The Amish, the Community living without Technology

 


amish peopleThe Amish are a group who believes in simplicity of life and a subgroup following traditional Christian Church. They are actively reluctant to accept any sort of modern standard of living and technology.  The history of the Amish began in 1693 in Switzerland when there was a separation within Alsatian Anabaptists and Swiss. People who were subordinates of Ammann are called Amish. In the beginning of 18thcentury they were migrated to Pennsylvania and that is why their language is Dutch Pennsylvania and they called Non- Amish as English. They are about .3 million in population.

These people can be recognized by seeing them from very far by their ancient dressing style in deep colors with no collars and pockets. It can also be said whether the man is married or not. Because before marriage young men need to be clean shaved but the married men need to grow their beards and mustaches are always forbidden to all.

These people are highly averse to any sort of technology that we normally take as our daily life like televisions, telephones, engine vehicles etc. they also maintain the traditional agricultural tools and use horses for traveling and communication. Though they use telephone outside of home, it is forbidden at the home. Even they seldom use electronic products and they have never been seen to use the modern technology of this century.

They believe in education but in their privet organization up to eight standards. They also value family and usually have a family of eight to twelve members where father is the head and work outside. In this Community divorce is forbidden.

In a brief, this group of people is the example of simple and ancient life style and they highly controls themselves from the touch of the modern world. Thus they protect their cultural values and respect their belief.
